I have never had a 77 go down and we do nothing for mantiance never touched the oil or anything. 2 years ago I bought a dewalt wormdrive the first thing to brake was the blade gaurd handle, then the blade gaurd itself bent and would stick.(very dangerous and when you try to bend the cast metal it will crack) This saw was our least used saw and it went down about a month ago so I took it in and the repairs were going to be more than a new saw. I had a new bed put on it and a new handle, the case is dented but it still runs like a top. One was just run over by a bobcat of the excavater. We are a framing crew in minnesota we have 2 HD77 2 and Mag 77 and they are used all day all year in the sand,mud, rain,and snow they are abused. Please read the included diagrams to ensure proper wiring, as the new switch may install differently from your old switch. This OEM Bosch/Skil saw switch will include a wiring diagram, 4 mounting screws, & will have 4 internal terminals. You may need to replace the switch if the tool has stopped working, or will not turn on, as well as, the tool works intermittently, you have to pull the trigger several times to get the saw to turn on, or the variable speed or electric braking are no longer working properly. Switches are commonly replaced in tools because they use mechanical internals, which degrade & wear out with normal use.
This switch, 2610321608 handles the on/off and variable speed funtion for the saw. 75 years later and the Skilsaw Model 77 is still around and we are going through what seems like another depression. Genuine Skilsaw Worm Drive Saw, model 77, trigger switch. Skil introduced the Model 77 Skilsaw in 1937 and I imagine the saw played a large part in the rebuilding of America following the years after the Great Depression.
